Paying Tribute to Songs You Love From Across the Pond 1963-73.
Born in Central NY in the mid fifties, auspiciously enough, not too far from Lou Gramm's place.
Inspired, like many, by the Beatles, David took up the guitar and played
his 1st gig - age 8 - at his older brother’s (drummer) 6th grade graduation.
David’s family relocated to Arizona where over the years he played with many local groups in and around Phoenix and the Southwest.
Venturing out on his own, he traveled East to reconnect with childhood musician friends playing in clubs from Boston to Miami.
Eventually, David moved back out west and settled in Los Angeles. There, he played the local music scene and worked as an audio engineer in various recording studios.
In 1987 he had the good fortune to secure the guitar vacancy in the famed funk group, “Commodores” and for the next 2 years toured the world.
Tiring of life on the road as a sideman, David left the group to concentrate on writing and performing original music by joining forces again with brother Russell and a long time friend from Arizona - “Mr. Mister” lyricist John Lang. Together they formed the group “Djinn,” again moving East to the NY/NJ area, where they wrote, recorded and released 2 CDs, all while playing the NYC/NJ original music venues.
At the *same* time, David worked at what is arguably a dream job for so many musicians: working at the Waterfront Studios in Hoboken, NJ for owners Henry Hirsch and David Domanich where he recorded and assisted on various sessions from Black 47 to Lenny Kravitz.
Before moving to the Capital area, David formed the Hendrix - inspired classic rock trio, “Red House." "British Vinyl" is not his first tribute band either, as he was recently a member of NJ-based tribute bands “New York State of Mind,” a tribute to the music of Billy Joel, which enjoyed regional success; and, “461 Clapton Blvd” an Eric Clapton tribute group.
Having criss-crossed the country a few times pursuing his muse, David looks forward to getting back to his birth state - and to his roots - to play the music that started it all - with “British Vinyl."
The British Vinyl Band Is:
Dave B - Lead guitar and vocals
Tim Q - Keyboards and vocals
Dale W - Percussion and Lead vocals
Dave G - Drums and vocals
Pete D - Bass Guitar and vocals
